A play by Danyson and Eleos
T(It is 6.01 PM. RICK was just dismissed from CCA in school. The sky is grey and cloudy.)
RICK: Hmmm, the sky is so dark now. I better hurry home before I get caught in the rain.
(RICK walks to the back gate of school, but he sees a mysterious box in front of him.)
RICK: That’s weird, (Bends down) there’s no label on this box too.
RICK: Hey, Dan, is this box yours?
DAN: Nope, sorry.
(RICK finds his other classmates around, Ronald and Ted)
RICK: Hey Ronald and Ted, is this box any of yours?
RONALD: No. Why would it be mine? Although you just gave me an idea of another prank I can do…
TED: Not mine either. Anyways, we have to get back home soon. Bye! We hope you find the owner of the box!
RICK: (Rolls his eyes at Ronald)Bye guys!
(RICK brings the box to the General Office.)
RICK: Hi, good evening, I found this mysterious box by the back gate. (places box on counter)
CLERK: (Examines box) This isn’t listed in the records from today, that’s weird. (refers to notebook)
RICK: Can I leave first? I really have to go home now.
CLERK: Sure, sure. (waves him away)
RICK: No problem. Bye! (Walks out of the door)
RICK: Oh no, the sky looks extremely cloudy. I better go home soon.
(RICK’s curiosity overwhelmed him. He decided to open the box.)
*RIP RIP*
RICK: (deflated) There’s nothing inside?! All that time wasted! Sigh… I guess I better go home before the rain’s first drops fall.
(RICK hears a stomp sound behind him.)
RICK: (turns around) He-Hello? Is anyone there?
(There is no response.)
RICK: Oh well, I better go home first. Mom and Dad will really chew me out for going home late.
(RICK brisk walks to the bus stop.)
RICK: (Flagging down the bus while looking at the sky) Oh no, the rain!
(The rain starts falling. It is extremely heavy. RICK boards the bus just in time.)
RICK: Whew, just in time!
(The doors close, but stop halfway, jerk, then close again.)
RICK: That’s odd! What is going on today? (He turns on his phone and plays a game.)[Text Wrapping Break]
(RICK feels a twinge of pain from his right leg.)
RICK: Ouch! (Looks down and finds a cut oozing blood on his leg.) I better clean that up when I get home.[Text Wrapping Break]
(RICK feels a warm breath down his neck.)
RICK: (Feels neck) That’s so weird! Why are so many odd things happening today? I must be going nuts. Maybe tomorrow I’ll get Mum to bring me to the doctor.
(RICK gets off the bus. The rain is falling extremely heavily now.)
RICK: Thankfully I brought an umbrella.
(RICK opens the umbrella and walks home.)
RICK: The rain is so heavy today, I wonder why. The forecast said it would be cloudy.
(feels slightly dizzy) Arghh.. this storm is really making me sick…
(RICK cuts through an alley as a shortcut home while massaging his head)
RICK: Whoo… It’s cold now… I need to be home now. Thankfully there’s this shortcut!
(RICK hears splashing of water behind him.)
RICK: Hello? Is anyone there? Who’s there? Whoever it is please just leave me alone, I’m having a headache and I’m feeling really sick…
(RICK hears the splashing sound come closer.)
RICK: (stops in his tracks) Ronald, this better not be another prank! I will kill you tomorrow!
(No response)
(Rick continues walking)
(Music faintly starts playing behind him- NEVER GONNA GIVE UP NEVER GONNA LET YOU DOWN, NEVER GONNA RUN AROUND AND HURT YOU….)
RICK: Okay thats it.
(RICK gets frustrated, talks and turns around at the same time)
RICK: Ronald, I’ve had enough of your ridiculous pra-
(Rick realises no one is there)
(Rick turns pale)
RICK: Wait what..Ronald, this is not funny, Ronald…
(RICK’s head starts throbbing even more now)
(No response)
RICK: RONALD??? RONALD THIS IS NOT FUNNY AT ALL! RONALD! JUST COME OUT AND SHOW YOURSELF ALREADY!
(RICK turns back around)
(RICK screams. Blood falls. A distorted roar sound out.)
As the trail of blood and black sand lengthens like a snake into the dark void between buildings and alleyways, a distorted figure disappears into the void, a limp five-limbed object stuck between its powdery, slimy grasp, struggling, but to no avail.
No one heard him. He did not go back home that day. No one found him ever since. Life just went on normally… Who knows, ‘Ronald’ is still out there, searching for something…or someone…
