StAR Day 2024: Mr Joseph Giri

1. It’s a normal day at work, before you get a call from your colleague. It’s an emergency. You need to come deal with it ASAP. What has most likely happened?

Someone got injured.

2. After taking care of the situation, you return to your desk and sigh deeply. If you had not become a Boarding Master, you would now be _______ instead.

A youth worker.

3. Never mind, you shrug off the stress from the morning and go to lunch. Where and what are you eating? And who are you eating with?

MaLa, loads of vegetables, normal LA, extra MA, with noodles, less oil. Someone from the Student Development team.

4. You are about to tuck into your meal when you notice a strand of hair in your food. Do you: A) Pick out the hair and eat the meal, it’s no big problem. B) Inform the store owner and get a replacement. C) Complain to your friend but pick out the hair and eat the meal anyway. D) Eat the hair. E) None of the above.

A), but still inform the store owner.

5. After lunch, you return to continue your work. What task are you most dreading and/or what task are you most looking forward to?

Dreading processing the financials and billings. Looking forward to having a conversation/hanging out with Boarders.

6. This is when you notice a strange letter placed on your desk. You open it and it says: I regret to inform you that you have been fired. Please clear your desk by next week. How do you feel?

Very curious, as this is not consistent with the way this school does things. There are usually conversations ahead of it.

7. You turn the letter over… and it says “Just joking! Happy StAR Day! Thank you for all your hard work and the school will not be same without you!” How do you feel?

I would smile, think to myself, “Knew it!”, get on with the day.
