Welcome Listener
by Bindu
This lore is about a little girl named Sueno.
She was smart, and obedient and pretty. She didn’t ask questions and did as she was told, only gracing others with a warm smile. As it should be, she truly was a perfect child. It was always a delight seeing her glide across the pearly white floor tiles and screeching with joy, as she stole a glance behind her with an outstretched hand, as if to grab the ‘clouds’. Perhaps she was—though that, of course, isn’t important. Fellow, ahem, residents of our esteemed establishment will tell you how it was even more thrilling to see how she would gaze in contemplation after her lessons, bowing politely to the residents as she passed. Additionally, she would playfully cup her hands and shut her eyes. This was a common occurrence in the hallways, causing residents to laugh out loud at her antics.
By popular demand, we are also disclosing the actions of perfect little Sueno in her room. After her lessons, Sueno is permitted a generous 5 minutes of playtime where she would curl up against the pearly white walls and pretend to be a rock. Oh, isn’t she just so silly! The residents always share a hearty laugh over this. However, since Sueno is so…essential to our establishment, everyone is required to wear specialized protective eyewear when viewing her. Additionally, in order not to contaminate her, they are also required to wear extra unique gloves when around her. This is to ensure all residents can appreciate Sueno’s beauty in all its entirety. Don’t worry, though! The residents remark that these protective wears are stylish and comfortable, and it is all worth it for Sueno.
Furthermore, they all really like their mandatory pearly white gowns, so there really is nothing to worry about.
Moving on, she would stare at the pearly white ceiling at times, letting her mind wander of elsewhere. Oh, to be young! She really was- Oh! Forgive my misstep, I meant to say she really is such a dreamer! In the morning, she arises at a perfectly normal time to the luminous globe of light flickering on, ready to start the day. Afterwards, Sueno is handed a cup of delectable pearly white rice and a refreshing bottle cap of pearly white milk. We have trained and disciplined her. Now, she avoids being a picky eater and finishes her food in 1 minute. Our residents, of course, delight in this perfectness. This is what we should all strive to be – perfect, prompt and obedient.
Yes, nobody is perfect. However, Sueno is the exception, for she is special. She is powerful, with forces driving her that no one can ever understand. That is why she attends her special lessons away from the other children, to preserve her perfect self. Sueno practically screeches and kicks her legs in excitement for her lessons, for she strives to be even more perfect every day. She flails her arms around and runs. No… she sprints as if she is trying to run away from the residents. She sprints…to play tag with the residents! Oh, isn’t she just so silly!
Sueno has a lot of fun during her lessons. She loves – help –to –escape – put on her special c –save m– Dong Clang Clunk. Ahem, put on a special cap that could look into her special brain. Forgive me, I have a bit of a cold. As I was saying, Sueno has graciously volunteered her brain so we could all learn to be as perfect as her! The cap is not any ordinary cap, it is extraordinary just like her! It helps us examine the waves emitted from her brain so we could replicate it on other children. However, there is no need to fret! Sueno claims that the cap is pretty and comfortable, and that “She wishes she could wear it every day!” Isn’t her enthusiasm adorable? She also spends hours doing her favourite exercises where she refines her perfectness. Of course, sometimes even Sueno can slip and make a mistake. In those rare instances, it is important to set her straight. This is so we can achieve a higher form of greatness. Hence, Sueno has requested to be zapped with an electric shock every time she slips. She wants to preserve her power. Hence, while it is shocking, it is absolutely necessary. Furthermore, the residents are all very proud of her. Let us all be motivated like Sueno. This driven mindset would help make the world a better place.
Afterwards, Sueno is sent straight to bed. It is important to get sufficient sleep to have a healthy and happy child, isn’t it? If Sueno excelled in her lessons, she would be rewarded with hearty a plate of 20 grains of pearly white rice. It is important to reinforce positive behaviour as this will improve her mood and in turn, increase her efficiency, leading to greater results. As the luminous globe of light dims and flickers on again, she completes her perfect cycle.

Yes
Anyway, with this, we are proud to announce that we can make the world a better, more perfect place. Thank you for volunteering to be the next subject as your enthusiasm is much needed! Additionally, we really do need a subject right now. We promise you that you will not live to regret it. Now, I’m sure you would like a bit of an explanation as to what you’re supposed to do. I will explain it to you. Sueno, or should I say subject 883, had powers to manipulate electricity, including lightning. Think…just imagine everything we can do with such a powerful ability. We could light up the homes of the poor, start fires and have a handy weapon in case of emergencies. We will never have another blackout ever again and be controlled by… those creatures who lurk in the dark. Remarkable, isn’t it? I shudder thinking about how frightening and powerful it truly is. Unfortunately, Sueno was a failure. She was always kicking and screaming and throwing childish tantrums. Goodness gracious, what a handful she was! Can’t she at least act like an eight-year-old? On the bright side, at least she served her purpose for a little while. That brings us, buzz, to my next point-
Help, can you hear me? Can anyone hear me? Do not listen to them… I want to doodle but they won’t let me. I want to paint but they won’t let me. They force me to do stuff I don’t want to… All the tall people in lab coats are so scary. They… they hurt me. They lied. Buzz…not the heroes we think they are… buzz… He-…buzz, please… please escape while you still can. Tell the world…buzz… I miss my mom…buzz……buzz…
Buzz…Sniff.. please tell me.. buzz…what was the sun like again? Silence! Clang!
Buzz…
Apologies, it seems like subject 883 is throwing one of her silly tantrums again. But fret not! We don’t have to worry about her anymore! She was a failure. But you won’t be a failure, will you? Failures are stepping stone to success, and you were destined for greatness. You will be part of the grand lore that saves the world.
Welcome, buzz, or should I say subject 884? Good luck.
