Sentiments

Something’s changed
somewhere in between;
when i wasn’t looking your way
and you went through
all that you did,
aged
and slowed down
but it felt like
you left me behind instead.

Reminiscence came like
inching
daylight that watches a flower
past its many seasons

and the colors have grown
from a simple monochrome
now we talked in deeper hues and sharper shades
same old same old
conversation and repeat
but learning to look beyond
the enunciation of words
at the nuances and backstories
that warbled in between
that always danced to fresh tunes

and we rested in reverie
an instance sauntered pass
drunk and then
taken flight
into the next
