when people rush past
in a flurry of black and white
crisp in a world of numbers and statistics
all locked in the same race
we fade into monochrome
our colours losing their sheen
and our brilliant hues
waning into wisps of shadow
racing
against the clock
all of us
locked in our desk work
devoid of emotion as we rot away
but we
pull against society’s strings
away from the pressure
and stop
the stars we never
stop.
now look up
at the cerulean sky
the trees of emerald green
the pool of sunset melting into midnight
and wonder why you never noticed
until you bothered to look for it
so we sit
and take a little time
to see the stars we never saw
shining brighter than ever before.
